Once again, within the framework of Barcelona’s Public Space Play Plan, the Whale Park was designed. It is based on the same premise as the Octopus, an exercise with students from the schools around the neighbourhood.
We wanted play to define the space, a focal point capable of stimulating public use of the area and inviting children and their families to make it their own.
We conceived it as a play ecosystem: the fin, the ship, the labyrinth-membrane, the school of fish, the krill and the slides create multiple routes that enable personal discovery and free improvisation. Materiality also plays a key role here, the textures and objects invite versatile, sensory play based on free manipulation.
