Portes obertes a l’escola pública (Open Days at the Public School) begins with the questions: “What do we think of when we think of school? What do we expect from it?”. The exhibition offers a journey through the various purposes of school, from access to knowledge and culture to the construction of values, the care of children and young people, training for work and for life, social justice and equity, and the improvement of society.
The exhibition links these aims with indicators, experiences and proposals that have contributed to the process towards a New Public School, understood as a democratic, inclusive, plural, co-educational model, rooted to the local community.
The exhibition concludes by opening a space for questions about “What and who depends on it?” and its improvement, and also poses a key idea: “to educate, it takes the whole community”.
An open process that can only be achieved collectively, through dialogue, trust, shared responsibility and social commitment.
